Texas Doctors Unite to Urge Clean Air Action

Alarmed over the public health impact of air pollution, physicians in Texas have come together to speak out strongly for corrective action. HPCA’s  “Consensus Statement on Reducing the Health Burden of Air Pollution in Texas“  has been endorsed by the following state medical specialty societies:

Texas Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology SocietyTexas Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
Texas Chapter of the American College of Cardiology
Texas Chapter of the American College of Physicians
Texas College of Emergency Physicians
Texas College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine
Texas Pediatric Society

In addition, the Texas Medical Association called today for ”our state, local, and federal government leaders and legislators to act promptly and aggressively to reduce the health burden of pollution from vehicular, diesel, NAAQS criteria pollutant, and air toxics emissions.”

HPCA joins in Amicus Curiae brief supporting City of Houston air quality efforts

HPCA joined the Environmental Integrity Project (EIP), Galveston-Houston Assoication for Smog Prevention (GHASP), and Industry Professionals for Clean Air (IPCA) in submitting an Amicus brief to the 269th District Court in Houston. The brief supports the City of Houston’s response to a lawsuit initiated by local polluting industries in an attempt to limit the City’s power to regulate their emissions.
