Alarmed over the public health impact of air pollution, physicians in Texas have come together to speak out strongly for corrective action. HPCA’s “Consensus Statement on Reducing the Health Burden of Air Pollution in Texas“ has been endorsed by the following state medical specialty societies:
In addition, the Texas Medical Association called today for ”our state, local, and federal government leaders and legislators to act promptly and aggressively to reduce the health burden of pollution from vehicular, diesel, NAAQS criteria pollutant, and air toxics emissions.”

HPCA is working in collaboration with Texas medical specialty societies to advance air quality initiatives set out in its “Consensus Statement on Reducing the Health Burden of Air Pollution in Texas“.
HPCA joined the Environmental Integrity Project (EIP), Galveston-Houston Assoication for Smog Prevention (GHASP), and Industry Professionals for Clean Air (IPCA) in submitting an Amicus brief to the 269th District Court in Houston. The brief supports the City of Houston’s response to a lawsuit initiated by local polluting industries in an attempt to limit the City’s power to regulate their emissions.
HPCA joins ALA, EDF, and others in asking Governor Rick Perry and Attorney General Greg Abbott not to waste taxpayers’ money, time, and health suing the EPA over its recent [MODEST] strengthening of the ozone NAAQS.
HPCA joins U.S. environmental health experts in urging the EPA to strengthen the NAAQS for lead to no more than 0.02 ug/m3.
HPCA distributes news release in response to EPA changing primary NAAQS for ozone from 80 to 75 ppb.
HPCA submits comments to EPA that “double bump-up” from moderate to severe is unwarranted, and that the public’s health requires efforts at attainment now while an ozone SIP is [STILL…..] under development.
